When does the season start?
It's Sunday 6th September 2026, U6s-U11s + U12 Boys @ 9:00am, U13 Boys upwards, plus the Girls' teams are @10:30am, and the Academy team @midday.
What does my child need to bring?
Nothing but themselves, a water bottle and a willingness to have fun & get stuck in. On the other hand, rugby boots (please see our stud policy), and a gumshield from about U9 upwards, are a good idea. Trainers will do while the ground is still hard. Please note, for safety, they cannot wear hoodies or clothing with zips, including on shorts or tracksuit bottoms, as these could cause injuries whilst playing.
No gumshield means no contact training that day, although we always have some available in the kit shop in the clubhouse.
Won't they get hurt?
Yes, a bit. But less so if they listen to their coaches. We play a contact sport. Even the younger age groups will run into each other occasionally, or trip up and graze a knee. Every team has first aiders present at every training session. The best way to avoid getting hurt in the tackle, scrums, etc., is to listen to your coaches and do it like they told you to. The coaches will reintroduce contact training gradually to make sure everyone has had a refresher and is confident in what they're doing. The good news is the ground gets less hard the more it rains.
Can I just drop my child off and collect them at the end of training?
No. We cannot legally take responsibility for your child. This is not a school and we are all volunteers. There needs to be an adult parent/carer present at all times during training. If you share lifts with other parents, need to swap between pitches to check on siblings, or just fancy a bacon sandwich from the clubhouse, that's fine, just let your team manager know please.
Why doesn't my child get picked for a match?
Unfortunately, we cannot take every team member to every tournament. The organisers will only permit a certain number of players per team that day. Lead coaches and managers work hard to make sure that everyone gets the same opportunities to play at matches, tournaments & festivals across the season as a whole and if you're not picked for the first tournament, the chances are you'll be on the next one. Priority is given though to those players who regularly attend training.
