Club Parking

Chris Westall16 Dec - 23:07

Please support keeping our club car park free to use on weekends

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may be aware, Eastleigh Borough Council is looking to change the Traffic Regulation Order (“TRO”) at the car park next to the hub with charges being introduced for Sundays.

The draft TRO allows for three hours free parking at the Hub with users being charged between £2.50 and £5.00 to park after this time. These provisions will therefore have a potentially adverse impact on any parents who have children who train in the different training slots we have in the morning as well as those who have children playing in matches. It will also have an effect on many of our volunteers who are often at the club for 4-5 hours at a time.
I have written to the Council to object raising the following objections:-

· The adverse impact on community sport involvement and youth participation.
· The effect on volunteers
· Accessibility and Equality Concerns
· Financial and Social Costs
· Conflict with the Council’s own Strategic Objectives
· Procedural Concerns

A copy of my letter to the Council can be seen below.

If you share the concerns that the Club is raising regarding the changes to the TRO then I would encourage you to voice these concerns to traffic.orders@eastleigh.gov.uk and copy in the local councillors for the ward:

Steve Beer (steve.beer@eastleigh.gov.uk)
Tanya Park (Tanya.Park@eastleigh.gov.uk)
Rosemary Reynolds (rosemary.reynolds@eastleigh.gov.uk)

as well as the local MP Liz Jarvis (liz.jarvis.mp@parliament.uk).

Please note that any objections have to be submitted to the Council by 19 December.

Kind regards
Andrew Browning
